Long-Term Warehousing and Order Fulfillment for Retailers: Supporting Growth Through Acquisition

When a growth opportunity arises quickly, logistics should be an enabler — not a constraint. This mandate illustrates how Boutin 3PL allowed a central vacuum manufacturer to double its size without real estate investment, by taking over both raw material and finished goods warehousing and pick and pack order fulfillment for its major retail accounts.

The Logistics Challenge :

  • The client’s real estate footprint was limiting their growth capacity, and the costs of expanding or leasing additional space were difficult to justify in an uncertain economic environment
  • In 2022, an acquisition suddenly doubled the size of the company, creating an urgent need for space and operational flexibility
  • Orders destined for major retailers needed to continue being prepared accurately and without interruption throughout the integration period

Our Approach :

Boutin 3PL became the client’s central logistics hub — a single point of coordination for both raw materials and finished goods, directly integrated into their production rhythm.

Each day, our team prepares and ships to the factory the components required for planned production. In parallel, we manage pick and pack order fulfillment for major retailers, in full compliance with their specific requirements — labeling, packaging configurations, and pallet standards.

All operations are managed through our Warehouse Management System (WMS), ensuring complete traceability and generating a monthly operations report provided to the client. This report delivers precise visibility into volumes, costs and logistics performance — a strategic data asset that is often underestimated during an acquisition integration.

The Results :

This partnership enabled the client to seize its growth opportunity without tying up capital in real estate, while maintaining a high level of service to its retail accounts throughout the entire consolidation period.
